Survey of Linyi
Linyi City is located in the southeast of Shandong Province. It is an important traffic hub in the south of Shandong Province and to the north of Jiangsu Province, thanks to its transitional location from the north China to the south and its closeness to the sea. It is only 100-odd kilometers away from the three seaports of Rizhao, Lanshan and Lianyungang, and 260 kilometers away from Qingdao Port. Beijing-Shanghai expressway passes through the city from north to south. Linyi airport is the biggest civil airport in South Shandong where medium-sized passenger planes can take off and land on and where there have started the scheduled flight routes from Linyi to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Jinan and Qingdao. Linyi exercises jurisdiction over 3 districts – Lanshan, Hedong and Luozhuang as well as 9 counties –Linshu, Tancheng, Cangshan, Junan, Yishui, Yinan, Pingyi, Feixian and Mengyin. In the administrative area of the city, there’re also two provincial-level development zones, Linyi High-tech Industrial Development Zone and Linyi Economic Development Area. The total area of Linyi City is 17’200 km2, among which the arable land is 9.777 million mu (1hectare=15mu). Linyi has a population of 10.15 million. Among the 6 million work forces, surplus labors amounts to more than 1.57 million. Linyi City is the largest city of Shandong Province in terms of area and population. It enjoys a mild climate, with distinct seasons and abundant sunshine. The annual temperature averages 12.5C and the annual average rainfall stands at 849mm.
Linyi City enjoys enough power and water supply. The total installed power generation capacity reaches 1300MW. The city possesses a modernized power grid backing by 500 kV and 220 kV lines of big capacity and high parameters. The capacity of the main transformers reaches 4.73 million KVA and the length of the transmission lines amounts to 1698 km. There’re 37 large and medium-sized reservoirs and 761 small reservoirs in the city, with the total water storage capacity of 3.4 billion m3. There’re also 15 deep-seated mineral water sources and 3 Grade A geothermal springs found in the city. Linyi boasts a wide variety of high quality mineral resources that are widely distributed and easy to be mined.
Linyi City has established a sound industrial system backed by light industry, textile, foodstuff, building materials, wood processing, machinery, pharmaceuticals, chemical industry and electronics. It is the biggest distribution center of commodities to the north of Yangtze River of China. 1004 markets of various kinds have been established, among which the specific wholesale markets amount to 200. The commodities are distributed to 26 provinces and municipalities in China and an annual trading volume of RMB 40 billion is realized. It ranks the first place among the similar markets in Shandong Province and is one of the three biggest wholesale markets of the country in terms of the scale and economic returns.
There’re also several institutions of higher education, for example, Linyi University, as well as some secondary specialized schools and vocational schools in the city, with the total number reaching 101. The number of students amounts to 140’000.
Linyi is appraised as a top tourism city of China. There’re some characteristic tourist attractions represented by Mount Meng, Underground Wonders of Yishui County, Yinqueshan Museum of Bamboo Slips from Han Dynasty Tomb, Former Residence of Wang Xizhi (the Calligrapher Sage), Zhuge Liang Museum and Beizhai Tomb of Han Dynasty.
Linyi City has already built up economic and trade relations with more than 120 countries and regions in the world. The annual self-operated import and export trading volume amounts to nearly US$ 1.6 billion, and the number of enterprises with the export sales of over US$ 10 million has reached 20. Over 1000 foreign-invested enterprises were set up in the city, 5 enterprises have already obtained the operating right to foreign contract and foreign labour cooperation. Over 10’000 laborers have been sent to foreign countries according to related contracts. More than 50 enterprises have set up their offices or made their investment in foreign countries. In addition, 5 companies have been listed in the stock markets of Hong Kong and Singapore, raising the capital of US$ 480 million in succession.
Linyi High-tech Industrial Development Zone is one of the top ten high-tech industrial development zones of Shandong Province. A service centre for the high-tech enterprises as well as the university park and the pioneering park of returned overseas students mainly engaged in the incubation of the high-tech project have been established in the development zone. Linyi Economic Development Area covers a planning area of 124 km2. More than 10 specialized parks and areas have been established in the area, including the public building sector, Japanese and Korean industrial park, export-oriented trade processing area, Zhejiang industrial park, Hartcourt International Park, high-tech Park, Biological Park and Electronics Park.
Linyi City has full-fledged foreign-related service institutions represented by foreign trade and economic cooperation, foreign exchange administration, customs, entry-exit inspection and quarantine and land port, which can efficiently deal with all the current businesses throughout the world.
